DANCE WITH ME WINTER TEAM MATCH 2014
Each year Dance With Me hosts a dance competition where our dance studios (Stamford, Glen Head, Fort Lee, SoHo) compete against each other at our Winter Team Match to decide who has the most heart… and the best team dance.
This year’s competition was one of the closest ever.
Check out this highlight reel to see how crazy it really was!
Throughout the day students competed for the highest scores in various dances and styles. These included International Latin (Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso-Doble, Jive),American Rhythm (Cha Cha, Rumba, East Coast Swing, Bolero, Mambo, Merengue, Samba, West Coast Swing, Hustle, Salsa), American Smooth (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz), International Standard (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep), Argentine Tango, and various group competitions.
We had a lot of fun during the general dances too, especially the salsa battles and classic party line dances. “Cha Cha now y’all!”
The evening culminated with the epic team line dance battles. Each studio choreographed a formation dance featuring staff and students. The team with the most participation and best team dance took home the best studio trophy!
Dance With Me Long Island danced to Ellie Goudling’s “Burn,”
Dance With Me Stamford performed to Pharell’s “Happy,”
Dance With Me New Jersey did a mashup of popular 80s and 90s songs,
Dance With Me SoHo also did a mashup of 90s and 2000s boy and girl band pop songs including NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, and Destiny’s Child!
Needless to say, this was probably the most epic battle in terms of line dances. Check out the video above to see some excerpts!
It was a very tough decision but Dance With Me SoHo pulled out the victory by a small margin!
