2023 was one for the books! It was filled with laughter, new connections, challenges, and of course, dancing – the highlight of it all! Before we dive into the excitement the new year has to offer, let’s take a trip down memory lane.
TRIUMPHS IN COMPETITIONS
The #DWMFAM showcased their skills and brought their dancing to new heights this year at many virtual and in-person competitions. Along the way, everyone made new friends and had endless fun!
In 2023, we had two virtual Mini-Matches and introduced The Games – DWM’s first Olympic-style dance competition, testing teamwork like never before! The fam did not disappoint and showed nonstop support for their studios.

The competitions didn’t stop there. The DWMFAM flexed its competitive streak at many in-person competitions, as well. We ventured to New Jersey, Texas, and, for the first time, Napa Valley, bringing the DWMFAM together to refine our dance moves, witness breathtaking performances, and celebrate with the fam!
Pro-Am Invitationals– We traveled all over at our Journey to India Tri-State Invitational, 90s Tri-State Invitational, and Journey through East Asia Texas Invitational. Everyone let their artistic side shine- ballrooms were turned into mesmerizing spaces and the DWMFAM shone with special routines and outfits.

American Open Dance Championships– At AODC, incredible pro and pro-am dancers from around the world came to Houston to showcase their incredible skills and talent. The highlight? Watching dancers vie for the Under 19 World Latin title.

Wine Country Classic– The Wine Country Classic in Napa Valley was truly one-of-a-kind. A weekend full of incredible dancing, creative shows, and wine tastings, hosted by our favorites, Maks & Val Chmerkovskiy at their Savor After Hours show.

The US Pro-Am Nationals– Our favorite world champions, pro couples, and pro-am couples wowed us with incredible routines over 5 days. Evenings, were filled with nights out on the town of Houston, parties hosted by Maks Chmerkovskiy, and glamorous galas — an amazing way end to 2023!
