FAQ: Dance Classes & Lessons in The Woodlands, TX

No, you don't need a partner. We have instructors who can dance with you during private lessons, and in group classes, we often rotate partners so everyone gets a chance to dance.
World-championship competitors. Mark-Bruce and Lizl Sasnovski are a married couple who between them hold 13 South African titles; Mark-Bruce was four times undefeated Open Latin American Champion, and Lizl went four years unbeaten on home soil while taking both Provincial and National titles. They were the number-one couple selected to represent South Africa at World Championship events and competed at the IDSF Youth and Amateur World Championships in Singapore, Germany, the Czech Republic and Australia. Off the competition floor, they were the featured couple in Simply Ballroom at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas, toured America with Debbie Reynolds, and were the featured ballroom couple in Invitation to Dance, choreographed by Louis van Amstel of Dancing with the Stars. Eric Botello, a Texas native with over twenty years of experience, took the 2023 Dance With Me National Championship in the Professional Rhythm division. They're joined by Savannah Woodard and Alexander Fitzgerald
New students start with our $49 intro special, which includes a private lesson + a group class/ or an invitation to our next social party. We'll walk you through the options in person at your intro, and you won't be asked to commit to anything that day. After that, group classes are $30 and private lessons have a range between $132-$170 (Depending on Program)
We're at 1501 Lake Robbins Drive, Suite 160, in the heart of Town Center — right by The Woodlands Waterway, a short walk from The Woodlands Mall and Market Street, and minutes from the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. That location is half the appeal for a lot of our students: you can park once and make an evening of it, with dinner and drinks a few minutes' walk away. We're an easy drive from Spring, Shenandoah, Oak Ridge North, Conroe, Magnolia, Tomball, Montgomery, Willis, Kingwood and Humble. Call 832.777.7200 if you're running late.
Yes — Country Night is a part of our weekly schedule. We teach Nightclub Two Step, the smooth, romantic, easy-to-learn partner dance you'll actually use at a wedding reception or a night out, alongside West Coast Swing and Texas Two-Step. No partner or experience needed — just come ready to dance. Country dance is one of the fastest things to get comfortable with, and it's the style most likely to come in handy in Montgomery County. Check this month's schedule for which dance Country Night is covering, or call 832.777.7200 and we'll tell you.
Most couples need 5 to 10 private lessons for a first dance they feel genuinely good about — 5 to 7 for clean timing and a confident entrance and exit, 10 or more for custom choreography built to your song with a real finale. Start three to four months out if you can; four to six weeks still works for something simpler and elegant. Tell us your song, the venue, the size and surface of the dance floor, and what you're wearing — a long train, a tight bustle or a small floor each change what actually works on the night. We handle the music editing and timing. We also choreograph father-daughter and mother-son dances, wedding party numbers, anniversary and vow-renewal dances, and full surprise routines. Wedding preparation runs through private lessons, so nothing depends on which group classes are running that month.
We teach every style we list, all year round. What rotates is the monthly group class lineup, and we publish exactly which dance each class covers, week by week — so you can see in advance that, for example, Country Night is running Nightclub Two Step for three weeks, or that Saturday's Afternoon Grooving moves through Salsa, Two Step, Zouk, Bachata and Hustle across the month. Private lessons are never affected: you can book any style, any month, with whichever instructor you like. If you're after something you don't see in this month's lineup, it isn't gone. Check [the current schedule] or call 832.777.7200 and we'll tell you when it comes around.
With one of our All Levels group classes or a private lesson — no partner, no experience, no audition. Our All Levels Smooth and All Levels Rhythm classes are built so that a complete beginner and a returning dancer can be in the same room and both get something out of it: alignment, timing, connection and flow from the ground up. Country Night and Saturday Afternoon Grooving are also genuinely beginner-friendly and low-pressure. Most of our students had never taken a formal dance class before their first visit. Call 832.777.7200 and tell us what you're after; we'll point you at the right starting point.
Wear something you can move and sweat in — slacks, leggings, a skirt with movement, or jeans with some give. For shoes the rule is smooth sole: leather-soled dress shoes, character shoes, or proper dance shoes. Avoid rubber-soled sneakers and boots with heavy lugged soles, because they grip the floor and stop your feet turning, which is how knees and ankles get strained. If you're wearing heels, block heels are safer than sharp stilettos. You don't need to buy dance shoes to start - most people begin in something already in their closet.
Most people feel comfortable leading or following a basic step within three to five lessons, and can hold their own at a wedding, a party or a cruise ship ballroom after about six to eight weeks of consistent classes. Real technique, styling and musicality take months to years — that's the part people stay for. If you have a fixed deadline, tell us the date at your first visit and we'll build the plan backwards from it.
Yes, and it's a good reason to start. Most cruise ships run ballroom and social dance nights, and a handful of lessons is usually enough to enjoy them rather than watch. We'd focus on the dances you'll actually meet on board — Waltz, Foxtrot, Rumba, Cha-Cha, East Coast Swing — plus enough floorcraft to move comfortably in a crowded room. Tell us how long you have before you sail and we'll build around it. Galveston is about ninety minutes from the studio, so we see this more often than you'd think.
American Smooth: Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz American Rhythm: Cha-Cha, Rumba, East Coast Swing, Bolero, Mambo International Standard: Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep International Latin: Cha-Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, Jive Social & Club: Salsa, Bachata, Hustle, Merengue, Zouk, West Coast Swing Country: Texas Two-Step, Nightclub Two Step, Country Waltz Argentine Tango — a dedicated weekly class Custom choreography for weddings, showcases and performances Every one of these is available as a private lesson at any time. The group lineup rotates monthly — check this month's schedule to see what's running now.
Yes, as a dedicated weekly class — which is unusual this far north of Houston. It's a genuine introduction rather than a taster: posture, walking technique, lead and follow, musicality and partner connection, in a welcoming room. Beginners are as welcome as dancers looking to refine what they already have. Argentine Tango is one of the styles people fall hardest for, and one of the few where the connection matters more than the footwork.
Yes. Our instructors include world-championship competitors and a reigning Dance With Me National Champion in Professional Rhythm, and we coach Pro-Am students from a first competition through to championship rounds — technique, styling, musicality and floorcraft. Competition coaching runs primarily through private lessons, so it isn't affected by the monthly group rotation. Call 832.777.7200 and tell us what you're aiming at.
es. We're minutes from Town Center's corporate offices, so we host a lot of team-building sessions, holiday parties and company events — along with bachelorette and bachelor parties, birthdays and anniversaries. Most groups arrive having never danced, which is usually the point. It's all built around whatever you want: a country or salsa crash course, a short routine everyone learns together, or just a fun hour on the floor. Being on the Waterway means dinner before or after is easy. Call 832.777.7200 with your date, group size and occasion.
It's one of the most common reasons couples book with us. A private lesson is fifty minutes of learning something together that neither of you is already good at — better company than another dinner. And we're in Town Center, so you can park once and build a full evening around it with the Waterway, Market Street and the Mall right there. Plenty of couples book a standing weekly or biweekly slot. No experience needed on either side, and you don't need to be equally good.
Yes. Our students range from their twenties into their eighties, and ballroom is one of the few activities where that mix genuinely works. Classes are low-impact and self-paced, and in a private lesson the tempo, footwork and frame all adapt to you. Dancing is also one of the better things you can do for balance, posture and memory. If you have a joint issue, a replacement, or anything else we should know, tell your instructor on day one and we'll build around it.
