Dancing with the Stars Week 6 Recap – Spring Break Night

DANCING WITH THE STARS GOES ON SPRING BREAK!

Did you ever dance at your Spring Break getaway the way they did on this episode of Dancing with the Stars?

Maybe after a few to many Pina Coladas… but most likely not

Dancing With the Stars’ Spring Break night started off with a fun Quickstep to “Heat Wave” by the music legend Patti LaBelle and her pro partner, Artem Chigvintsev. Patti lost her shoes while dancing but still nailed the routine. Not an easy feat.  Carrie Ann Enaba said “She is the most consistent performer” on the show. Hmmm… do you agree with that?

Len jokingly commented, “It was the best performance of the night!”…but the only one so far. Regardless, the audience seemed to enjoy her enthusiastic quickstep.

Score: 29/40
Nastia Liukin and Derek Hough took the floor next for a sultry Tango. Although the performance was very energetic, the judges thought that the couple was disconnected and told them to trust each other more as a couple. Perhaps this is a result of their limited practices due to Derek’s involvement in his “other show” in NYC.
Score 34/40

A very well-evolved sassy Salsa routine by Willow Shields and Mark Ballas kept the audience on their feet. The routine had some complex lifts that were executed brilliantly. I think the band was a nice touch and Mark did a good job of choreographing rhythmical sections to match the music.

Score 34/40

After some tough scores from last weeks’ Disney night, Robert Herjavec and his partner Kym Johnson came back strong with a great Jive routine. As it is for most new dancers, the quick Jive was a challenge for Robert. He didn’t necessarily miss any steps, but he still wasn’t on the same track as Kym.

Score 28/40

Performing a romantic Rumba for a hot spring night were Noah Galloway and Sharna Burgess. It seemed like they were having a tough time during rehearsals, but once they were on stage the performance was just beautiful. He continues to impress everyone with his ability to lead Sharna despite his physical limitations. Credit Sharna once again for making adjustments in choreography that showcase his strengths, and mask his weaknesses.

Score: 29/40

Spicing things up was the hot couple, Rumer Willis and Valentin Chmerkovskiy, with their “bootyfull” urban Jazz performance. The sexy and steamy routine to Destiny’s Child’s hit song “Bootylicious” left many of the judges underwhelmed. The crowd thought otherwise, agreeing with Bruno’s statements: “it was hot, you gave it your own interpretation”

I think that there isn’t much more that can be done differently for a dance TV show to the song bootylicious, but Val and Rumer took the judges comments with class and promised to improve next week. We’ll see what they do with the Jive!

Score: 32/40

“Spinning like a wheel of joy” was Bruno’s comment on Chris Soules and Witney Carson’s first viennese waltz of the season. Chris’s confidence sparkled as he improved his musicality and left Julianne proud. Can he keep it going for next week?

Score: 31/40

And last but definitely not least, the leading performance of the night was by Riker Lynch and Allison Holker. This duo somehow managed to top their Disney Night performance. Carrie Ann’s comment to Riker was, “what you do when you dance is that you make music on your body and we love listening to you!” Can you hear it?

Score 39/40

The stars Willow, Noah, Robert and Nastia on #TEAMYOLO had lots of challenges with their hectic schedule. But that didn’t stop the team from nailing their group dance. The performance had so much energy and fun that it made us want to dance a long with them.

An almost perfect score of 39/40 by Team Yolo did not leave #TEAMTROUBLE stars Rumer, Chris, Riker and Patti any less confident. They’re performance was as fun and entertaining as it could be. The team received a score of 39/40 as well.

Unfortunately, at the end of every night we have to say goodbye to one special star. This week the elimination was extra hard for all the fans as the legendary Miss Patti was eliminated. We will definitely miss Patti LaBelle on the show, but lucky for us she will be back tomorrow night (April, 28TH) for one more performance on the DWTS stage for the 10th Anniversary Special episode.

What did you guys think of all the performances? Who do you think will take the lead next episode? Who do you think will go home?
