Manager/Dance Instructor

Alona Tovarnova

Martha Graham wrote: “Nobody cares if you can’t dance well. Just get up and dance. Great dancers are great because of their passion.” And Alona is just that. As a child, she twirled and jumped around her living room in circles just like a fairy.  After taking her first ballroom class at the age of 8 in Izhevsk, Russia she was sold on the ballroom world. Since then Alona has trained throughout Russia and the United States with top teachers in the industry in both International and American styles. She has devoted her life and career to sharing her skills and passion with anybody and everybody.

Which dance is your favorite and why?  Contemporary. It's weirdly beautiful and expressive. The lines/ the use or even absence of "music" in the dance. The expression of single body.   What type of music is your favorite to dance to? Rumba   What type of music is your favorite to listen to? Really depends on the mood but top 3, Musicals, Pop, and Deep house.   What is your favorite movie or TV show? The Pursuit of Happiness.   If you could be one animal, which one would you be and why? An eagle! Their freedom to fly: soar, dive, flip, turn, glide, stretch out their wings yet at the same time be on top of the food chain! AWESOME ANIMAL!   What's your favorite food? Japanese Ramen.   How/Why did you start dancing? Mother insisted I take this activity, plus I sucked at soccer and more girls did dance!   What do you want most out of life? Experience and Happiness around me. Doing things to the max!   What do you like most about teaching dance? Making them happy, inspiring them, opening up their minds.   What is your favorite quote? " The Brick walls are not to keep you out; the brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something."
