AFTER LOSING A FEW CLOSE FAMILY MEMBERS, MICHELLE USED DANCE TO REGAIN HER PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL STRENGTH.
Meet Michelle Nuemann! She is a proud member of our Glen Head, Long Island dance studio, and when you meet her your first impression is that she is a woman who is full positivity. Every time she walks into the studio she has a smile on her face, not to mention delicious home baked goods at hand to share with the Dance With Me Family!
Meeting Michelle today you would never guess that she went through so much tragedy in her life. When Michelle began to share her story we learned that she suffered through a number of losses in her family in a very short period of time. You can imagine the effect that such traumatic losses had on Michelle’s life.
Michelle was feeling her life pass her by and decided she needed to find something that would help her overcome her sadness. This is where dancing and Dance With Me came into her life. After one lesson, something sparked inside her and she knew instantly she had found her new hobby. She felt lighter, happier, and more in tune with herself. Dancing ignited her love for creativity, and learning new skills.
Michelle started dancing more often, and became an active participant in all of Dance With Me’s showcases and competitions. The Michelle who was once buried in sadness started to feel joy in her life again. Michelle was now challenging herself, and taking on new adventures with open arms, and a positive attitude.
Dancing helped Michelle realize that she still had so much life to live.

“I don’t know what you have in this doorway, but you have this magic door … there’s nothing negative in this place.” So true!
Right now I am blown away! Just watched Michelle’s video-I too have had major loss in four years-Dad, Mom, Uncle, cousin-I feel like the me I know & love is buried too! I haven’t danced in 20 years & JUST LAST NIGHT I wrote that I’d love to learn ballroom but don’t have the courage… I’m a young 63 – is it too late? I’m an avid fan of DWTS-Thank you & Michelle for sharing your story-you are an inspiration!
Never too old to dance! We just saw a video of an 80 year old man dancing.
I totally relate to Michelle’s story. I too walked through the doors and just feel in love with dancing again. The staff is just wonderful. Anyone can do it!
It’s NEVER NEVER NEVER too late – go for it!!! Dance lows us to work at our own level…
