ANYONE CAN DANCE…EVEN AT AGE 80!
At Dance With Me dance studios we hear all kinds of excuses why someone should not dance. It’s not just about dancing, really. People make all kinds of excuses for not being active, for neglecting their bodies and minds, for not finding time for something that will ultimately make them healthier and happier.
I’m sure you hear [say] it all the time. We’re all guilty.
- “I don’t have time right now”
- “I’m just too tired”
- “I had a long day”
- “I have to take care of [insert chore here]”
- “I’ll do it [insert future date here]”
Sometimes you just need a little push. That extra bit of motivation. Unfortunately, oftentimes it comes in the form of pain. We all know that we’re driven by two primitive motivation factors: the hunt for pleasure and avoidance of pain. Sadly pain happens to be a stronger force and usually we’re taking action much later than we need to.
It’s not always our fault. Sometimes life gets in the way, things come up, priorities change plans. Kids, family, career, you name it.
However…. IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO DO ANYTHING!
Last year we proved that you can dance sitting down, and now there’s proof that anyone can dance at any age. Below is a video of Paddy Jones, who turns 80 this year and is able to put on a dance performance in front of millions that most teenage girls can’t. If she can do that type of Tango and Salsa performance at her age, then you can do it too!
Paddy had danced as a child, but had put it on hold for many years. Sadly, what motivated her to start dancing again was the painful loss of her husband, but it a traumatic event doesn’t always have to be the catalyst for action! Either way, I’m sure that he’s watching over her with a big smile on his face.
Take a look at this video below. It starts slow with an Argentine Tango, but things quickly take a turn for the FIERCE with her Salsa.
This proves that it’s never too late to learn to do something that makes you happy and healthy.
What did you think of the video? What are some excuses you tell yourself?
