01 The Vegas Wedding Roughly four in five Las Vegas weddings involve guests travelling in. Yours is a weekend, not an afternoon.

Everyone You Love Got on a Plane

A Las Vegas wedding is not one event. It's a welcome drink on Thursday, a ceremony on Friday, a pool morning on Saturday, a farewell brunch before flights. Your people rearranged their week and paid for a room to be in the same building as you.

Which is lovely — and it also means the first dance is the one moment in three days where the whole room stops talking and looks directly at the two of you. Ninety seconds, everyone watching, phones up. Here is what actually goes wrong.

a

The high-school sway

Arms locked, weight shifting foot to foot, quarter-turn every eight counts. It doesn't look bad in the room. It looks bad in the video, which is the version that lasts.

b

Vegas raises the bar and everyone feels it

Your guests spent the weekend watching people who do this professionally. Nobody expects a production number from you — but a room primed by this city notices the difference between rehearsed and improvised in about four seconds.

c

The timeline is shorter here

Chapel and resort slots get booked and confirmed fast, and destination weddings compress. Plenty of couples don't have a venue locked until eight weeks out — which means the dance is the last thing anyone thinks about.

d

You won't see the floor until the day

A chapel aisle, a Strip resort ballroom, a country-club terrace, travertine pavers still holding the afternoon heat. Each one changes your footwork, and out-of-town couples usually get one look at it during the rehearsal.

e

Then the DJ moves on

A Vegas reception playlist rarely stays in one genre. Salsa and bachata, a country two-step, a line dance, then the club set. If the first dance is the only thing you learned, you sit down for the rest of it.

02 How We Teach Around 90% of the couples who book a wedding program here have never taken a dance lesson.

How wedding dance lessons work at Dance With Me Summerlin.

Nothing about our first dance lessons in Las Vegas assumes you can dance. We build the routine to fit what your body already does well and quietly work on the rest, so the finished thing looks like you two, on a good day — not like two people executing someone else's choreography.

There's a side effect most couples don't expect. An hour a week where the two of you put the phones down, learn something together and laugh at each other turns out to be the calmest hour of the whole planning process. Several couples have told us it became their date night and stayed one after the wedding.

Five Ways Onto the Floor

01 A couple dancing their choreographed first dance at a Las Vegas wedding reception

First Dance Choreography for Couples

The core program. Built to your recording, count by count — from simple, elegant movement that keeps you off the sway, up to a full routine with spins and a picture-perfect close. We teach lead-and-follow first, so the two of you are actually connected rather than both counting in your heads. Song still undecided? We'll help you judge tempo and danceability before you commit.

Father-Daughter and Mother-Son Dances

Usually the moment that makes the room cry, and usually the person with the least dance experience in the building. We keep these warm and simple: an easy pattern, a comfortable hold, a graceful way to finish. Parents flying in the day before is normal — a single lesson the morning of the rehearsal is enough to take the fear out of it.

Reception Dances: Salsa, Bachata and Country Two-Step

The answer to what happens after the first dance. A Las Vegas reception playlist moves through Latin, country and club music in the same hour, and most couples have nothing prepared for any of it. A few sessions on salsa, bachata, merengue or the two-step means you're on the floor for the part of the night your guests will actually remember.

Wedding Party and Group Routines

Groomsmen, bridesmaids, both families, or the whole room. We build crowd-pleasing routines that work when half the group has never rehearsed anything — including the surprise reveal that starts as a normal first dance and turns into something else entirely. Bring however many people you have.

Last-Minute Wedding Dance Crash Course

Getting married in two weeks. Or nine days. This happens here more than anywhere else in our network, and it is not a problem. We strip out everything complicated and drill four things until they're automatic: a clean entrance, a hold that holds, one turn that looks better than it is, and a finish. Couples have started three days out and looked completely composed.

How Much Do Wedding Dance Lessons Cost in Las Vegas?

What the $49 buys you

A full private lesson for the two of you at the Summerlin studio. Not a group class, not a fifteen-minute tour, not a sales meeting with music playing underneath it. You dance, to your own track, with the instructor who would be teaching you.

Flying in? Book it for your first free afternoon in town. That one lesson is usually enough for us to know whether your wedding week needs two more or four.

Both of you, one instructor

Floor time from the first minute. You aren't learning in a room with twenty other people.

Bring the actual recording

Style, tempo and the shape of the routine all come out of your track. Bring two or three if you're still deciding.

A real number, after the lesson

Your instructor prices a program once they've seen you move and heard the song — never before.

$49 is the whole commitment

Some couples take the intro and stop there. That's a normal outcome and nobody chases you about it.

05 Choosing a Style Not sure which is yours? The song map in section 04 answers it in one line.

Your Song Picks the Style. Here Are the Five.

Almost every first dance we choreograph in Summerlin is one of these five — and which one is yours is decided by your song, not by your taste. Here's how they differ, and where each one wants to be danced.

01

Nightclub Two-Step

Best for · the modern pop or R&B ballad your song probably is

The least famous style here and the one most couples end up dancing. It was invented for exactly this problem: contemporary ballads that are too slow to swing, not in three for a waltz, and without enough Latin feel for a rumba. If your song is a current radio ballad or a slow jam, this is very likely the answer — it fits a bigger share of the tracks we're handed than the other four combined.

02

Rumba

Best for · slow 4/4 ballads, R&B slow jams, and small floors

Latin, unhurried, and danced close together largely on one spot. That last part is what makes it the workhorse here: rumba looks intimate rather than cramped when a chapel or a restaurant buyout leaves you a ten-foot square between the tables. It's also the fastest way to make a slow song feel like choreography instead of swaying, which matters when the ceremony space is smaller than the one you pictured.

03

Bachata

Best for · Latin and modern R&B-flavoured tracks

Dominican in origin, built on a simple side-to-side pattern with a hip lift on the fourth beat, danced in a close hold. It's the quickest of these five to get looking good, which is why it turns up so often when a couple has three weeks rather than three months — and why it suits couples who are only in town for the wedding week. It also earns its place twice: learn it for the first dance and you're still using it an hour into the reception, when a Las Vegas playlist reliably turns Latin.

04

Foxtrot

Best for · slow big-band and crooner standards

Smooth, travelling and unmistakably classic — the style behind most black-tie first dances, and the one this city's own music has been built on for seventy years. It moves around the floor rather than staying put, which photographs beautifully but needs room to do it, so it suits a Strip resort ballroom far better than a chapel or a patio with tables to the edge. Expect a little more work on frame and timing than the styles above.

05

Waltz

Best for · songs that count in threes

If your song sways in sets of three rather than four — think Moon River, or Ed Sheeran's Perfect — it's almost certainly a waltz. The rise and fall gives it the sweeping, storybook quality couples picture when they imagine a first dance. Rotational, so like foxtrot it wants floor: lovely in a resort ballroom or a Summerlin country club, tight in a chapel or a restaurant buyout.

Country two-step isn't on this list because it's rarely a first dance — but it is very often the second one. If your reception is heading toward country, salsa or bachata after the formalities, that's covered by our reception dance program rather than here.

04 The Short Answer

What Is the Best Dance to Learn for a Wedding?

There isn't one — the best dance is whichever style matches your song. Couples usually arrive expecting to pick a dance and then find a song to fit it. It works the other way round. The track you have already chosen has a time signature, a tempo and a feel, and those three things narrow the answer to one or two styles before anyone sets foot on the floor.

Matching a song to a first dance style
If your song is…The dance is
A current pop ballad that fits none of the others Nightclub Two-Step
A slow 4/4 ballad, especially on a small venue floor Rumba
Latin, or modern R&B with a Latin lean Bachata
A slow, swinging standard — Sinatra, Bublé, Nat King Cole Foxtrot
Anything that counts in threes rather than fours Waltz

Two things shift the answer after the music. Your floor — foxtrot and waltz travel, so a chapel aisle or a restaurant buyout inside a Strip resort often pushes a couple toward rumba or nightclub two-step, which stay in one place and read as intimate rather than cramped. And your timeline — with three weeks rather than three months, the styles that look good soonest are bachata and nightclub two-step.

You don't have to work this out yourself. Bring the song to your $49 intro lesson, your instructor listens to it once, and you'll leave knowing which style it is and roughly how the routine will be shaped. Section 05 below has the detail on all five.

06Why Us

Why Las Vegas Couples Choose Dance With Me.

Founded on a World-Class Ballroom Standard

Dance With Me was founded by Maks and Val Chmerkovskiy. Your instructor is coached to that standard — and then points it at one thing: feeling confident for three minutes on your wedding day, not competition drills.

Instructors Hired to Teach Beginners

Our Summerlin team is selected for teaching ability, not only performance credits, and holds certifications through the National Dance Council of America, the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and DVIDA. Around 90% of the wedding couples here have never taken a formal lesson.

A Summerlin Studio That Works Around Your Week

Train at our Tivoli Village studio on South Rampart Boulevard — a full ballroom floor, free parking, and about twenty minutes from the Strip. If you're flying in, we stack your lessons across the days you're actually here rather than asking you to come back weekly.

04 When to Start

When to Start — Including If It's Next Week

Two to three months out is the sweet spot. But Las Vegas timelines compress, and the honest answer is that the right time to start is whenever you're reading this. Here's what each window actually buys you.

01

4–6 months out · The foundation

The unhurried version. We design the choreography, lock the song and build movement habits so early that the steps stop being steps. Nothing about the wedding week involves remembering anything. If you're planning a mashup or a routine with lifts, this is the window you want.

02

2–3 months out · The sweet spot

Where most couples land, and where the program works best. Enough time to learn a full routine, refine posture and transitions, and build the stamina to look effortless from the first note to the last — without the lessons competing with everything else on your list.

03

1 month out · Polish and presence

Entrance, exit, and the final dip. This is where we rehearse in the shoes and the skirt, work out what the train does on a turn, and practise the walk onto the floor — the part nobody choreographs and everybody notices.

04

Two weeks or less · The crash course

Compressed, and it works. We cut anything intricate and drill a small number of clean, high-impact movements until they're automatic. If you're flying in, we'll stack two or three lessons across the days you're actually here. Send the song ahead and we'll have it mapped before you land.

How Many Lessons Will We Need?

Most Las Vegas couples land between four and eight private lessons. Your instructor will give you a real number at the intro lesson, once they've seen you move and heard the song.

1–3 Express prep

Posture, timing, a comfortable hold, a simple pattern and a clean final dip. Enough to look composed and intentional. The right choice if time is the constraint.

4–8 A tailored routine

A full routine choreographed to your specific recording, with polished transitions, spins, personal styling, and practice in the dress and the shoes. Where most couples end up.

10+ Showstopper

Multi-song mashups, custom music edits, lifts and advanced spins. For couples who want the first dance to be the thing people talk about on the flight home.

04 Who You'll Actually Meet Certifications across the network include the National Dance Council of America, the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and DVIDA.

Meet Your
Las Vegas Instructors

A wedding program lives or dies on whether the person teaching it can explain a movement to someone who has never done it. Both instructors below are competitive dancers — but the reason they teach weddings is that they're unusually good at making nervous couples comfortable in the first ten minutes. Dance With Me was founded by Maksim and Valentin Chmerkovskiy of Dancing With The Stars; these are the people who teach you.

How he got here

Micah started dancing at twelve in Dayton, Ohio, in jazz and swing. Ballroom came later, at Johnson & Wales University — where he was also earning a degree in culinary arts, which explains the food recommendations. He spent four years on the university’s ballroom team competing amateur-amateur.

What he competes in

Pro/Am in both American Smooth and American Rhythm, where his students have consistently reached finals, plus professional Show Dance. He holds DVIDA certifications and has trained under Ballroom and Latin world champions.

On wedding couples

Reviewers describe his teaching as calm and unhurried — the useful quality when the wedding is close and the nerves are real.

How he got here

Marco realised fairly quickly that dancing was the thing that made him happiest, and started teaching in 2014. What kept him in it was the other half of the job — watching people who arrived convinced they couldn’t do this find out that they could.

What he competes in

He has competed across the country both professionally and alongside his students, in categories running from Show Dance through social dancing to American 9-Dance.

On wedding couples

Las Vegas Wedding Dance — Frequently Asked Questions

Two to three months before the wedding is the sweet spot. That is enough time to build muscle memory without the lessons competing with the rest of your planning. Vegas timelines are often shorter than that, which is why we also run an express crash course — we have had couples start a few days out and still walk onto the floor looking composed.

Yes, and a large share of our wedding couples do exactly that. Tell us your arrival date when you book and we will build the program around the days you are actually in town, usually two or three back-to-back private lessons in the week of the wedding. If you can send your song ahead, your instructor will map the choreography before you land so no studio time is spent deciding.

Most Las Vegas couples land between four and eight private lessons. One to three covers posture, timing, a comfortable hold and a clean finish, which is the usual choice inside three weeks or for couples only in town for the weekend. Four to eight lets your instructor choreograph a full routine to your song, with a real entrance, polished transitions and practice in the shoes. Ten or more suits a multi-song mashup, a custom music edit, or lifts.

At Dance With Me Summerlin you start with a $49 intro: a private lesson plus a group class or a practice party. After that, group classes are $30, practice parties $20, and private lessons $132–$170 each depending on the program. Your instructor prices a wedding program around your song, your timeline and how much choreography you want, and there is no obligation beyond the intro.

The New Student Intro Package is one private dance lesson where you can learn any dance you want, plus a group class or a practice party. It can be taken solo or with a partner, so you can come as a couple or send one nervous dancer ahead. Bring your song to the private lesson and you will leave knowing which style it is.

That is exactly who this is built for. Around 90% of the couples who walk into our Tivoli Village studio have never taken a formal dance lesson. We break every movement into simple, repeatable pieces, and we build the routine to your ability rather than making you rise to a routine.

The best wedding dance is whichever style matches your song. A modern ballad usually becomes a nightclub two-step, a slow 4/4 song a rumba, a Latin track a bachata, a swinging standard a foxtrot, and a song that counts in threes a waltz. Your venue floor and your timeline can shift the answer, which is why your instructor listens to the song at the intro.

Yes. A Sinatra standard, a country ballad, a bachata, a modern R&B track or a mashup that starts slow and drops into something upbeat — we choreograph to the structure and emotion of your specific recording. Bring it to your intro lesson and we will map it out. If you are still choosing, our instructors will help you judge tempo and danceability before you commit.

We do. Las Vegas receptions rarely stay in one genre — the playlist tends to move through Latin, country and club music in the same hour. We teach salsa, bachata, merengue, country two-step and line dancing, so you and your wedding party can stay on the floor after the first dance instead of sitting it out.

Yes. We choreograph father-daughter and mother-son dances, and routines for groomsmen, bridesmaids, both families or the whole room, including surprise reveals. Parents flying in the day before is normal — one lesson the morning of the rehearsal is enough to take the fear out of a parent dance.

Dance With Me Summerlin is at 420 South Rampart Boulevard, Suite 140, Las Vegas, NV 89145, in Tivoli Village. We are open Monday to Friday, 11 AM to 9 PM, and closed Saturday and Sunday. It is roughly 15 to 20 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip on Summerlin Parkway or the 215, a few minutes from Red Rock Resort, and about 25 minutes from Henderson. Parking is free. Call (702) 710-1100.

Comfortable clothes and shoes with smooth or leather soles so you can turn. Avoid rubber-soled sneakers and flip-flops. Brides should bring their wedding shoes to the final lesson, and a practice skirt if the gown has a train. If your ceremony is outdoors on stone or pavers, tell your instructor — footwork on an uneven or hot surface is worth rehearsing.
