01The Problem

Most Fort Worth Couples Wait Too Long. Then Panic.

You've booked the venue — Brik, The Ostreum, Colonial, a barn out past Aledo. You have the dress, the photographer, the band. But the first dance? You're "just going to wing it." Here's why that rarely works:

a.

The "Awkward Sway"

Without a plan, you end up rocking back and forth for three minutes while your guests check their phones. The photos look stiff. The memory feels embarrassing.

b.

Every Guest Is Filming

In the age of TikTok and Instagram Stories, your first dance isn't just a moment — it's content. One awkward step becomes a video that lives forever.

c.

The Dress, the Boots, the Floor

That gown wasn't designed for dancing, and neither were the boots he's wearing. Without simple choreography you risk tripping, tangling — or spending the whole song staring at your feet.

d.

Then the Band Plays a Two-Step

At a Texas reception the floor fills fast. If you never learned the two-step, you spend your own party sitting at the head table watching everyone else dance.

02The Cost of Waiting

The First Dance Is the One Photo You'll Frame Forever.

0+Students Taught

Your photographer is set up at the front of the room. Your videographer is rolling. Your parents are crying. And in that moment, you either look like a couple in love — or a couple trying not to fall over. That single frame ends up on your wall, on your parents' mantel, and in every anniversary post for the next fifty years.

03The Solution

A Simple, Elegant Routine. Tailored to Your Song.

Our Fort Worth Wedding Dance Package isn't about becoming a pro. It's about feeling natural, connected, and confident for three minutes. Ricky, Shely and the DWM Fort Worth team choreograph to your comfort level — whether that's a romantic sway with one clean spin, a country waltz, or a full entrance that stops the room.

How he started

Ricardo, or “Ricky” as his students call him, started dancing at the age of 8. As a child he preferred football, but one day his mother convinced him to take a dance class. After the first lesson, he was hooked.

Competing and coaching

Ricky’s passion for knowledge, perfection, and competitive nature drove his love for dance and pushed him towards competing in International Standard and Latin. At the age of 14, Ricky started coaching other young competitive couples and quickly became known as a young leader and ambassador for the sport.

He participated in many South American and Pan-American championships, winning several titles and representing Ecuador on the official Ecuadorian Dance Sport team.

Fort Worth

Ricky moved to the United States in 2017 to further pursue his competitive dance career. He loves getting the opportunity to share his love of dance with students of all levels.

07Common Questions

Everything You Need to Know.

That's exactly who we built this for. Around 90% of our wedding couples have never taken a dance lesson. Our Fort Worth instructors break movement into simple, repeatable steps that feel natural — not robotic.

You start with a $49 intro private lesson at our Fort Worth studio. After that, most couples book a small package of 3–5 private lessons; your instructor prices a program around your song, your timeline, and how much choreography you want. There's no obligation beyond the intro lesson.

We've had couples start 2 days before and still pull off a beautiful routine. That said, 3–4 weeks is the sweet spot — time to learn, practice, and feel confident without stress.

Absolutely. Whether it's a classic ballad, a George Strait two-step, a Texas country waltz, or a surprise hip-hop mashup, we choreograph to the structure and emotion of your specific track. Bring it to your intro lesson and we'll map it out.

We do. A lot of Fort Worth receptions turn country the second the first dance ends, so we teach Texas Two-Step, country swing, and a simple country waltz. Learning the two-step means you and your wedding party stay on the floor all night instead of sitting it out.

Comfortable clothes and shoes with smooth soles. Cowboy boots are ideal for two-step work and plenty of our grooms dance in them, so bring the pair you plan to wear. Brides should bring their wedding shoes to the final lesson so we can rehearse in them. Avoid rubber-soled sneakers — they grip the floor too much.
