Words will never convey the appreciation this dad has for what Shely and Jacob poured into me and my daughter for our epic daddy/daughter wedding dance. The patience and energy these two have is unparalleled.

I signed up for dance as a surprise to my daughter, but realized quickly this was too good to keep under wraps. I started bringing her along and we created lifelong memories from the time together.

The Dance With Me student body and additional staff are so supportive of each other. Even when it took me slowing steps to crawls and counting way past the 8 count for things to make sense to me, it was always a safe space, each and every visit with us leaving, feeling encouraged to take on the world.

Google won’t let me link a video, but I’ve sent one of our wedding dance to Shely and hope you will give them a try and be encouraged when you see what we did.

Katelyn and I thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for being such a pivotal part of her most important day. We love you!

Dance With Me FTW has truly become my home away from home. From the moment I walked through the doors, I felt welcomed, supported, and genuinely cared for not just as a student, but as a person. Every instructor and staff member is incredibly talented, but what stands out even more is how invested they are in helping each student grow, improve, and believe in themselves.

The environment they’ve created is something really special. It’s challenging in the best way, encouraging, uplifting, and filled with people who genuinely want to see you succeed. I feel so lucky to learn from these professionals every single day and to be surrounded by such an amazing community.

I truly could not recommend Dance With Me more. It has brought so much joy, confidence, growth, and friendship into my life, and I’m endlessly grateful for this studio and everyone in it!

I had a very fun afternoon! Finally got my dancing shoes on and went to a dance studio. Not just any dance studio mind you. This studio is one of a chain of studios that Maks and Val Chermerkovskiy founded! These studios are called "Dance With Me". When I saw their Facebook ad I had to check it out. Dancing and music has been a big part of my life that I put aside for many years. This was my opportunity to see if It would still bring me happiness. I'm happy to report that the answer is a resounding YES! This particular studio is in Fort Worth, Texas and is a beautiful area. The manager is Ricky (I didn't get his last name) and he is the one I had an introductory lesson with today. He comes from Ecuador and is an excellent instructor. He gave me some tips that I hadn't learned anywhere else that will help me gain more strength in my legs as well as help with my balance. I was greeted by another instructor within a minute of walking through the door. They made me feel right at home. I will be going back for sure! I highly recommend Dance With Me. Another thing that will ensure I go back is that Maks and Val (and their father) sometimes visit the studio and do group lessons!! Won't that be a kick?!

Frequently Asked Questions About Two-Step Lessons in Fort Worth

At Dance With Me, you can start with a $49 Intro Special for your first class.

We recommend leather-soled cowboy boots or smooth-soled dress shoes. Avoid rubber-soled sneakers or flip-flops, as rubber grips the hardwood floor and makes turns difficult on your knees and ankles.

Most beginners master the basic step, timing, and simple turns within 2 to 4 lessons. If you want to feel completely natural executing spin combinations and navigating crowded honky-tonks like Billy Bob’s Texas, a structured package of 6 to 10 lessons is recommended.

No partner is required! We rotate partners during group country dance classes so all participants practice with different leads and follows. If you prefer to dance exclusively with your partner, simply let your instructor know before class starts.

Our studio is conveniently located in Tarrant County at 5259 Marathon Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76107, easily accessible from the Fort Worth Cultural District, West 7th, Downtown, and the Stockyards.

The Texas Two-Step moves progressively around the dance floor in a continuous counter-clockwise direction using a “Quick, Quick, Slow, Slow” rhythm. Country Swing is a stationary (spot) dance focused heavily on upper-body leverage, turns, and arm patterns within a single area.

The best places to practice the Texas Two-Step in the Fort Worth Stockyards are Billy Bob’s Texas (featuring a massive 5,500-sq-ft hardwood floor) and the historic White Elephant Saloon on Exchange Avenue. Both legendary venues feature daily live country music and authentic wooden dance floors built for continuous counter-clockwise progressive dancing.

Pro Tip: Before stepping onto the floor in Cowtown, take a private warm-up lesson at Dance With Me Fort Worth—located just 15 minutes south of the Stockyards at Clearfork—to master floor etiquette and turn control.

There is no technical difference between the Texas Two-Step and the Country Western Two-Step—they are two terms for the exact same progressive partner dance. “Texas Two-Step” is the regional name born in local Texas honky-tonks, while “Country Western Two-Step” is the formal name used by national dance organizations (such as the UCWDC) and professional dance studios.
