Your Dream First Dance Starts Here

Planning your dream Texas wedding is a thrilling journey, but it often comes with a growing checklist of decisions, timelines, and subtle stressors. Between finalizing the catering and coordinating with vendors, many couples look ahead to their first dance with a touch of anxiety. It is completely normal to feel a bit nervous about stepping out in front of all your family and friends, especially if you or your partner feel like you have “two left feet.”

At Dance With Me, we specialize in transforming that pre-dance anxiety into pure excitement. We offer premier wedding dance lessons in Austin designed specifically for absolute beginners.

No Experience? Our Proven Teaching Approach

We provide a clear, stress-free roadmap from your very first lesson to the moment you step onto the dance floor, ensuring you look natural, feel relaxed, and radiate genuine dance floor confidence.

BEGINNER

Brand new to the floor? You’re in safe hands. Learn fundamental timing, simple lead-and-follow mechanics, and comfortable movement that feels natural.

Intermediate Tiers

You’ve got the basic rhythm down—now it’s time to polished. Go deeper into technique, styling, smooth transitions, and building confidence so you look spectacular for the cameras.

Advanced Tiers

Want to completely wow your guests? Train with our elite coaches to execute showstopping choreography, breathtaking dips, or seamless multi-song mashups.

Popular Wedding Dance Styles for Austin Couples

Every couple has a unique vision for their wedding day. The music you choose and the venue you book will naturally influence the rhythm of your performance. Our Austin studio offers tailored training across a wide spectrum of dance styles to match your personal vibe.

Authentic Texas Two-Step & Country Swing

You cannot talk about an Austin wedding without celebrating our rich local music heritage! If you are hosting a rustic celebration at a Hill Country pavilion, or planning a reception inspired by iconic spots like the Broken Spoke or Sagebrush, our Country Western classes are exactly what you need. We specialize in teaching the country western two-step and country swing, customized specifically for a wedding setting. You will learn how to navigate crowded floors with ease, executing effortless turns and casual spins that look perfectly at home in the Live Music Capital of the World.

Elegant Ballroom Classics

For couples aiming for a timeless, fairy-tale entrance, traditional ballroom dancing is the ultimate choice. We teach smooth, sweeping styles like the Waltz and Foxtrot. These dances are perfect for sophisticated, classic ballroom venues, helping you glide effortlessly across the floor with grace and poise.

Fun & Upbeat Rhythms

If you want to inject high energy into your reception, consider vibrant styles like Salsa, Rumba, or Swing dancing. These fast-paced, joyful styles are excellent for modern couples who want to showcase their playful personalities and get their guests hyped up for the after-party.

What is the best dance to learn for a wedding first dance?

While the Foxtrot is widely considered the most versatile “all-rounder” for beginners due to its easy walking rhythm, the absolute best dance style is the one that naturally fits your chosen wedding song. During your initial consultation, we analyze the tempo, musicality, and rhythm of your music to build a dance that matches your track seamlessly.

Later in his competitive career he had to uproot himself to pursue higher level training abroad, especially in Hungary, where he was trained by the Professional Latin World Champions. His dancing has taken him to many corners of the world, including India, Russia and Ukraine. Apart from a successful career in Competitive Latin Dancesport, he has also competed internationally in Showdance together with his partner Jhinuk, obtaining the World Championship Title of 2023 in IDO Showdance. His main desire is to be able to bring the best out of all the students that he has the opportunity to work with and make them achieve more than they ever thought they could.

Mastering Wardrobe Mechanics on the Dance Floor

One major element that many couples overlook is how their wedding attire behaves in motion. A dress that feels perfectly fine standing still on a pedestal can feel entirely different when you attempt a sudden turn or a deep dip.

Why Students Love Us

At Dance With Me Austin, couples dancing is more than steps—it’s confidence, connection, and self-expression. Whether you’re seeking stress relief, increased energy, or a vibrant community, our Austin Dance Studio helps you reconnect with yourself through movement.

I went in over 3 years ago having no idea how to dance. I wanted to pick up a skill that was more social, and help me break out of my introverted shell. Thanks to the incredible folks here, I am now loving dance, and even got first place in the Newcomer division of the Austin Open Dance Championship for 2025! Amanda is a wonderfully supportive and knowledgeable instructor, with a true love for the craft, and the entire staff is courteous and helpful in keeping you up to date on your next lesson. It is worth every penny!

Make sure to check out the Barre and Strengthening group classes every Wednesday at 7:40! Fantastic workout that really helps your body learn how to move like dancers need to, and bring some kind of yoga mat!

Eyne been an amazing instructor and dance partner; and all of the other instructors are incredibly kind, helpful and encouraging. Regardless of your dance experience, they will teach you the basics of ballroom in an easily digestible way.

I absolutely adore this place! I’ve danced my entire life in some capacity (briefly semi-professionally on a cruise ship) but hadn’t yet dabbled in the world of ballroom yet, when I found this place. I had been struggling with the loss of my service dog of 16 years and decided I’d try to go back to my first love (dance) to help me cope with that loss of my greatest love (my pup). This place certainly helped me to heal, plus so much more! Despite being somewhat intimidating initially of the studios’ grandeur with it’s chandeliers and formally-dressed staff at the Austin Domain location, they are incredibly welcoming, and from the moment I walked in I felt right at ease and a part of something special. Now admittedlyI, went in originally thinking I’d maybe do one or two lessons to feel it out, but probably end up not attending much more due to the fact that the location was further away than I originally had thought when purchasing the intro deal from a Facebook ad (a little over an hours drive from where I live). And I am now writing this review roughly 6 months & around 30 Private lessons as well as 12 group classes later, if that doesn’t say anything. I have become incredibly hooked on how much fun, challenging and Addictive this place has become! All of the staff have been incredible, both instructors and desk staff alike! They truly care about creating an experience available for everyone and foster a really great community of people of all different backgrounds & experience. They also make the it enjoyable and entertaining with many options and styles of dance to partake in. I have dabbled in other Dance styles and groups/studios in the Austin area and can honestly say that this one, by far, has been one of the most encouraging and consistently welcoming out of the many, I’ve tried. Their private instruction is by far where they stand out. I’ve been either a student as well as a dance instructor for many years and can speak from experience that the instructors they have here are incredibly talented at what they do. Each instructor brings something special to the table and not one is like the other which gives you the full range of personalities and styles to experience. Johnny is exceptional in his detailed instruction and experienced eye to be able to see exactly what you may be missing and reframe it so that you can easily understand and adapt your technique. This is an invaluable quality in an instructor that is extremely rare to find these days. Vlad was exceptionally talented and experienced yet was insanely approachable and relatable making even the most nervous of dancer feel immediately part of the group. Diego brings the excitement and energy every time and his group classes are something that shouldn’t be missed! They’re fun, dynamic, and encouraging in all the best ways!

My fiancé and I took private lessons here to prepare for our first dance at our wedding, and we couldn’t have asked for a better instructor than Kristoffe. He made every session fun, comfortable, and full of laughter even while challenging us to look and feel confident on the dance floor. His teaching style is patient, encouraging, and perfectly tailored to beginners, like us, who wanted to look natural but elegant.

By the time our big day arrived, we felt so prepared and actually enjoyed our dance in front of everyone. Kristoffe turned what could have been a stressful part of wedding prep into one of our favorite memories together. Highly recommend!!

I started taking dance lessons here, initially thinking I would just learn a couple of basic social dances. Now I’m practicing over 10 different styles and can’t imagine my life without dance. I was a complete beginner (I had never taken a formal dance class in my life (just a two step lesson at White Horse and maybe a salsa lesson in a dance club), and I immediately felt happy and comfortable here. The studio is my happy place and a major part of my life now. All of the teachers are amazing. The community of students is warm and welcoming. I’m always having fun, but my teachers also make sure that I’m challenging myself to learn and grow. I love Dance With Me!

Absolutely Amazing!

It is absolutely gorgeous from the outside and the instructors are both knowledgeable and friendly! I have no formal training or knowledge in dance, so I was a bit nervous at first.
That went away immediately, all of the instructors are very approachable and made a newbie like me feel at ease. There's so many different dances to choose from and you get to keep on building your skills. I always feel really happy after a class. Jason is my primary teacher, and he's very patient and kind in teaching new students. I take private and group classes, and they've been great. Haven't yet been to the socials yet, but they look amazing! It's actually a really smart concept.

I highly recommend this for anyone looking to learn how to ballroom dance.
I even wrote/drew a little comic about my first encounter with the studio. I was literally just walking by.

FAQ – Wedding Dance Classes in Austin

For a simple, clean, and confident routine that keeps you from simply swaying back and forth, we generally recommend a minimum of 4 to 6 lessons. If you are looking for a fully customized, showstopping routine with intricate styling, most couples find their sweet spot around 10 to 15 sessions spread across a couple of months.

At Dance With Me, you can start with a $49 Intro Special for your first class.

We recommend wearing comfortable, breathable clothing that allows for a full range of motion. For footwear, avoid heavy sneakers with thick rubber soles, as they grip the wood too tightly and can cause joint strain during turns. Instead, choose smooth leather-soled shoes, sleek flats, or professional dance heels that allow you to glide and pivot effortlessly across the floor.

Not at all. In fact, many couples prefer to bring a short list of potential songs to their first session. Our instructors love helping you pick the perfect track by demonstrating how different dance styles feel to each song option on your list.

Yes! If you are short on time and need last minute wedding dance prep Austin experts can rely on, we can fast-track your learning. We will focus on a few highly effective, easily masterable moves, clean up your posture, and give you a dependable entrance and exit strategy so you still look polished and collected under pressure.

Absolutely. The father-daughter dance and mother-son dance are incredibly meaningful highlights of the reception. We offer dedicated lessons for parents and their sweet couples to ensure everyone shares a beautiful, comfortable, and memorable moment in the spotlight. We can even assist with professional music editing and cutting to ensure your song is the perfect length.
