My fiance and I decided to take classes here before our wedding. Monica was our instructor, and she is AMAZING! We came in late to the process (3 weeks to go!), so we only had 5 lessons and they worked so hard to make sure our dance was perfect. Monica walked us through the choreography, asked us questions, listened to our feedback, and incorporated all of our “wish-list” items into the dance. Not only is our dance amazing, but taking lessons here has inspired us to start a new hobby. We will definitely be back for social dancing!

I have been taking dance lessons at this studio for over seven years now, and Masha and Sasha have helped me transform from a beginner to an experienced ballroom dancer. Both of them have fantastic technique and the patience and good humor you need to be a truly excellent teacher. I’ve done multiple competitions (smooth, standard, rhythm and social) and choreographed dances with them and other students, and am also a fixture at the group lessons where both new and experienced students have great fun and camaraderie.

Coaches visit regularly to provide additional training and Deanna at the front desk is a star and a lovely welcoming presence. It’s a second home for me, and the best time and money I’ve ever spent. Can’t rate them highly enough ❤️.

I started taking lessons at DWM a little over a month ago and I’m so happy I found this studio. I’ve wanted to learn ballroom for a long time and being at the studio is the highlight of my week. The atmosphere is so fun and welcoming and all of the instructors and staff are amazing. I hope to be dancing here for many years to come!

UPDATE: It's been over 2 years now that I've been a student at DWM Stamford and I still love it! I've learned so much and been able to be a part of a lot of fun competitions. I've made so many friends and I adore my teachers. I look forward to many more years of dancing here!

I can’t say enough great things about this studio. I joined with no dance experience, looking for a new hobby and a way to build confidence. From the moment I walked in, the energy felt welcoming and supportive.

Deanna at the front desk is amazing—always friendly, organized, and keeps everything running smoothly. The instructors, Sasha and Masha, both bring great energy to the studio.
I always have a great time, often with a good laugh, which makes the experience even better.

The group classes and private lessons are challenging in the best way, and the socials are a fun opportunity to practice what you’ve learned. I joined Dance With Me because I wanted to try something new and get out of my comfort zone a bit. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it ended up being much more welcoming than I thought. The studio has a genuinely warm, friendly atmosphere, which makes it easy to walk in even if you have no idea what you’re doing (which, to be clear, was me).

I really enjoy the mix of private and group lessons. The private lessons help me improve quickly, while the group classes are more relaxed and fun. I get to practice, laugh a little, and realize I’m not the only one figuring it out.

Sasha and Masha are both incredibly skilled and detail-oriented, and they keep things approachable. I get clear feedback, and I’ve been able to improve without it ever feeling overwhelming. Deanna also is incredible and helps create such a welcoming environment.

Over time, I’ve noticed myself becoming more confident and comfortable in how I move.

Overall, I think it’s a great place to try something new, improve at your own pace, and actually enjoy the process. The only downside is that once you start, it’s hard to stop.

My wife and I took about 7 or 8 dance lessons with Masha (who was great!) in June 2024, leading up to our wedding in early July. As a bit of background, my wife loves to dance, while I had little to no experience when we first walked in the doors of the Dance With Me studio. We worked with Masha over the course of a month, and I have to admit, it was a challenge for me at first. Learning and memorizing the steps wasn’t easy for me, but my wife picked them up much faster than I did—no surprise there! Throughout the entire process, Masha was amazing. She was patient, encouraging, and she was relentless with her positivity and constructive feedback. The weeks we spent training with Masha paid off big time. By the time our wedding day arrived in early July, we were able to perform our dance better than we ever imagined, and it was a huge success! We owe so much of that to Masha and her wonderful teaching. We highly recommend taking dance lessons with Masha, whether you’re experienced or a complete newbie like I was. Thanks, Masha!

Both, easily. We're at 20 Summer Street in downtown Stamford, 10 minutes' walk from the Stamford Station (Stamford Transportation Center) — the second-busiest station on the entire Metro-North network. A number of our students come straight here after work rather than making a second trip out of the house. If you're driving, the City of Stamford Summer Street Garage is just a short walk up the road and offers ample parking. You can also find metered street parking right on Summer Street; meters run Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM at $1.25 per hour. This means street parking opens up nicely in the evenings and becomes completely free after 8:00 PM (as well as all day on Sundays). We're a short drive from Greenwich, Old Greenwich, Cos Cob, Riverside, Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk and Westport, and from Rye and Port Chester across the state line. We teach every style we list, all year round. What rotates is the monthly group class lineup: each month we pick a fresh set of group classes, so the schedule stays interesting for regulars and a wider range of styles gets its turn. Private lessons are never affected — you can book any style, any month, at whatever pace suits you. If you're after a specific dance and don't see it in this month's lineup, it isn't gone. Check our monthly schedule, text or call 203.674.8100 and we'll tell you when it comes back around and set you up with a private lesson in the meantime.

Not at all! You do not need a partner to join our adult dance classes or private lessons. During private dance lessons, you will dance one-on-one with your expert instructor. In our group dance classes and social dance parties, we frequently rotate partners, making it a fantastic way to socialize and meet new people in the Stamford area.

Sasha and Masha lead instruction at our Stamford studio, and between them they've taught students from first lesson through national competition. One or two lines each: training, competitive background, what they specialize in. Maria Kurnosova manages the studio, and Deanna runs the front desk — both of whom our students mention by name almost as often as their instructors. We also bring in visiting coaches regularly for additional training, so students preparing for competition or working on technique get outside eyes on their dancing.

With a beginner group class or a private lesson — no partner, no experience, no audition. Every month's lineup includes at least one entry-level class; they start from the very first step: posture, timing, how to move with another person. A lot of our students walked in exactly this way. One joined with no dance experience at all, looking for a hobby and a way to build confidence; another came in specifically to get out of her comfort zone and describes the studio now as the highlight of her week. New students start with our $49 intro special, which includes a private lesson + a group class or an invitation to our next social party. We'll walk you through the options in person at your intro, and you won't be asked to commit to anything that day.

Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that lets you move freely, along with smooth-soled dress shoes or dance shoes. Avoid sneakers and rubber-soled shoes — they stick to the hardwood ballroom floor and can strain your knees or ankles during turns. For safety and to protect the floor, ladies should skip sharp stilettos in favour of block heels, character shoes or comfortable flats. You don't need to buy dance shoes to start; most people begin in something already in their closet.

Most people feel comfortable leading or following a basic step within three to five lessons, and can hold their own at a wedding or a social party after about six to eight weeks of consistent classes. Real technique, styling and musicality take months to years — that's the part people stay for, and a lot of our students have been dancing here for five, seven, ten years. If you have a fixed deadline like a wedding, tell us the date at your first visit and we'll build the plan backwards from it.

Yes. We run a pro-am competitive program alongside our social program, and we bring in visiting coaches regularly for additional training. Students at our Stamford studio compete across Smooth, Standard, Rhythm and social categories, and several have gone from first lesson to competition floor with us — one has been dancing here for over seven years and competing throughout. Competition coaching runs primarily through private lessons, so it isn't affected by the monthly group rotation. Call 203.674.8100 and we'll build a program around your goals and your competition calendar.

Yes. We offer personalized wedding dance lessons tailored to your song, your style and your comfort level — whether that's a simple elegant sway, a classic Waltz or a fully choreographed routine. Start three to four months before the wedding if you can — that gives room for 5 to 10 private lessons at an unhurried pace, which is where most couples land. If you want simple comfort, 5 to 7 is plenty; for custom choreography with a real finale, plan on 10 or more. Four to six weeks still works for something simpler. Tell us the venue, the size of the dance floor and what you're wearing — a long train, a tight bustle or a small floor all change what choreography actually works. We also choreograph father-daughter, mother-son and wedding party dances. Wedding preparation runs through private lessons, so nothing depends on which group classes are running that month.

It's one of the most common reasons couples book with us. A private lesson is fifty minutes of learning something together that neither of you is already good at — better company than another dinner. And because we're on Summer Street in downtown Stamford, you can make a full evening of it with the restaurants around us. Plenty of couples book a standing weekly or biweekly slot and treat it as their night. No experience needed on either side, and you don't need to be equally good.

Yes to both. We're in the middle of downtown Stamford, so we teach private lessons throughout the day from 1PM for people working nearby who'd rather come at lunch or straight from the office than make a second trip out. We also run group lessons, choreography and dance entertainment for corporate events, holiday parties and team activities. Call 203.674.8100 with your group size and date.

They're where the steps from class turn into an actual night out, and they're open to students and guests. Partners rotate, beginners are genuinely welcome, and there's always someone happy to dance with a newcomer.
