⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Ballroom Dance Experience at Dance With Me Fort Lee

Dance With Me Fort Lee is an exceptional ballroom dance studio with an outstanding team of professional instructors and staff. From the moment I walked in, everyone made me feel welcome, comfortable, and confident.

I would especially like to recognize Alina, my dance instructor. She introduced me to the world of ballroom dancing by teaching me my very first steps. She is incredibly talented, patient, encouraging, and passionate about what she does. Her ability to explain techniques and build confidence has made every lesson enjoyable and rewarding.

One of the greatest benefits I’ve experienced is that my shyness has decreased significantly, and I now feel much more comfortable dancing with friends. Every lesson has helped me become more confident, relaxed, and eager to continue learning new dance styles.

I also want to sincerely thank Elena, Adam, and all of the other instructors and staff for creating such a positive, friendly, and supportive environment. Their professionalism and dedication make every visit a pleasure.

If you’re looking to learn ballroom dancing, improve your skills, or simply have fun while gaining confidence, I highly recommend Dance With Me Fort Lee. It’s truly an amazing place to learn and grow as a dancer.

Thank you, Alina, and the entire Dance With Me Fort Lee team, for making this such an unforgettable experience!

My wife and I did our wedding dance from this studio and everything was incredible. Lindsey was seriously an amazing instructor and she guided us all the way from the first step to the end. She made up the entire routine, listened to our inputs, and was able to adapt to our needs as new dancers (especially me as my wife is more naturally talented lol). She was also very accommodating with our schedules and made some last minute accommodations that she was not obligated to. All the other instructors and workers were genuinely friendly, encouraging, and just awesome to be around. If you're thinking of taking classes here, just do it. You won't regret it.
Dance With Me Fort Lee is THE best place to learn how to dance! The instructors are the real deal. You won't believe how quickly you can improve your dancing when you have such high-caliber instructors teaching you. And the best part? It's SO MUCH FUN! Love them all - Jordan, Yavet, Sasha, and Mandy. Thank you for bringing so much joy into my life.

Dance Instructor

Diaz Yavet

Yavet is originally from Miami FL and started dancing at the age of 10. He was always very drawn to music and dancing, and has always been a very expressive person. He’s trained in various styles such as ballet, jazz, hip hop, and salsa. At age 17 he took an apprenticeship with the Fred Astaire organization and was trained and certified in their syllabus of American Styles. Yavet has competed in Pro/Am divisions for Rhythm, and has led his students to win numerous championships. He enjoys choreography, and exploring the science of movement. “My favorite thing about dancing is that there’s always more to learn.” He would describe his dancing style as versatile, and there’s no doubt that his dynamic and contagious spirit helps craft a fun and productive learning environment.

FAQ

No! most people who walk into our Fort Lee studio come on their own. In private lessons your instructor is your partner. In group classes we rotate partners through the hour, so you dance with several people and never sit out. If you do come as a couple, you're welcome to rotate or stay together for the whole class.
No. Most of our students are adults, and a large share had never taken a dance lesson before walking in. Classes marked All Levels start from the very first step — how to hold your frame, how to hear the beat, how to move with another person. There's no audition, no fitness requirement, and nobody watching from the sidelines. Ballroom is one of the few activities where a 30-year-old and a 70-year-old genuinely learn side by side.
We're at 2029 Lemoine Avenue, Suite 201, in the middle of Fort Lee's downtown business corridor — so parking is the one thing worth planning for. While our building has a tiny lot around the back, those few spaces are extremely limited and mostly reserved, so you shouldn't count on finding one on-site. Fortunately, the Main Street Municipal Lot at 231 Main Street is directly adjacent to us, offering 200 public spaces (pay at the kiosk) with just a 1- to 2-minute walk to the Dance With Me Fort Lee studio. You can also look for metered street parking, but be aware that on this specific stretch of Lemoine Avenue (between Main Street and Bridge Plaza South), meters are enforced Monday through Saturday until 2:00 AM. This means if you are arriving at 6:50 PM, street parking is not free yet—you will still need to feed the meter or pay at the municipal lot to avoid a ticket! If you're circling and running late, call us at 201.941.7797 — we'd rather hold your spot in class than have you rush.
New students start with our $49 intro special. After that, group classes are $30 per class, private lessons start at $123, and packages start at $199. Across northern New Jersey, private ballroom instruction generally runs $50–$100+ per hour and full wedding dance packages commonly land between $300 and $600 — our pricing sits within that range. We'll walk you through the options in person, and you won't be asked to commit to anything on your first visit.
Wear something you can move and sweat in like leggings, slacks, a skirt with movement, or jeans with some give. For shoes, the rule is smooth sole: leather-soled dress shoes, character shoes, or proper dance shoes. Avoid rubber-soled sneakers, because they grip our hardwood floors and stop your feet turning, which is how knees and ankles get strained. If you're wearing heels, block heels are safer for you and kinder to the floor than sharp stilettos. You don't need to buy dance shoes to start — most students begin in something already in their closet.
Most people feel comfortable leading or following a basic step within three to five lessons, and can hold their own at a wedding or a party after about six to eight weeks of consistent classes. Real technique, styling and musicality take months to years — that's the part people stay for. If you have a fixed deadline like a wedding or an anniversary, tell us the date on your first visit and we'll build the plan backwards from it.
Start three to four months before the wedding if you can. That's enough room for 5–10 private lessons at an unhurried pace, which is where most couples land for a choreographed first dance. Four to six weeks still works for something simpler and elegant. Bring your song if you've chosen one; if you haven't, we'll help you pick in the first lesson. We also choreograph father-daughter and mother-son dances, wedding party numbers, and full surprise routines.
Yes, and we'd rather know the details early. Tell us the venue, the size and surface of the dance floor, and what you're wearing — a long train, a tight bustle, a fitted gown or a small floor all change what choreography actually works on the night. We've prepared couples for receptions across Bergen County and northern New Jersey, and we handle the music timing so you only have to learn the dance.
Line Dancing and Kizomba, both on Monday nights. Line dancing needs no partner at all — you learn the routines everyone does at weddings, reunions and parties, and you can walk in cold. Kizomba is a close-connection social dance built on simple, walking-based footwork, so it's approachable much faster than it looks. From there, most people move on to Latin Drills and Latin Choreography Mix on Wednesdays or American Smooth Tango on Fridays.
Yes — salsa, bachata, merengue, cha-cha, rumba, samba and hustle are all part of what we teach in private lessons and rotate through our group schedule. Our Wednesday Latin Drills and Latin Choreography Mix classes cover salsa, cha-cha, samba, rumba, jive and swing material. If you want to focus specifically on salsa or bachata, a private lesson is the fastest route — tell us at your intro and we'll build around it.
Yes, and a number of our students do. We're minutes from the George Washington Bridge on the New Jersey side, which for many people in Upper Manhattan, Washington Heights and Inwood is a shorter trip than getting to a Midtown studio — with parking at the end of it instead of a subway transfer.
We're at 2029 Lemoine Avenue, Suite 201, Fort Lee, NJ 07024, on the second floor, in the heart of Fort Lee's downtown. We're a short drive for students across the eastern Bergen County / Palisades corridor — Edgewater, Cliffside Park, Englewood, Leonia, Palisades Park, Ridgefield, Tenafly and Alpine — and we've been part of this borough since our grand opening in December 2013, when Mayor Mark Sokolich cut the ribbon. In 2014 the Fort Lee Regional Chamber of Commerce gave us its annual Merit Award for impact on the borough. Call us at 201.941.7797 or stop by.
